I grew up as a dancer. I was a twig until I hit puberty (late bloomer)…over one summer, I gained about 20 pounds: both from curves and height.
Upon returning to school and dance season, I was constantly asked, “What happened to you?” I spent a few years trying to figure out the answer to that question.
I began teaching group exercise in college as a UGA student. I ended up working out constantly, and under-eating, too, in hopes that I wouldn’t continue the drastic upward trend puberty had started.
I was always 1-calorie away from giving up my dieting efforts. I was painstakingly calculating my food, exercising a LOT, and eating as little as possible, just to overeat later when I got too hungry…#repeat. It was frustrating and miserable!
So, to be honest, though I have always loved fitness and learning about health, part of why I was studying nutrition in college was to try to perfect the dieting thing. 🤦🏻♀️
In the process I learned there are mannnny more factors to metabolism 😅 than the oversimplified “calories in, calories out” approach I was frustrated with. (Actually, “Metabolism Reality Check” is one of my most popular presentations now as a speaker…20+ years later!)

I used those painful experiences along with my professional experience to develop my not-on-a-diet new-normal and turns out I’m leaner now (in my mid-forties) than I was in my twenties and I eat more now than I did then. I work-out quite differently, too (and for less time, thank goodness…I was about to blow out my knees! 😞).
Living in that restrictive mindset was more than half of my problem …it not only leaves people hangry, but also hungry for every fad (which only offer short-term results).
I stayed in that place of confusion and for too long, and I see it constantly among my clients and gym-class participants.

Prior to providing the accountability-based programming I do now, I could get clients to their goals, but without the ongoing support and camaraderie along the journey that I now provide my clients, there was little staying-power for them.
Most people simply won’t maintain long-term, life-giving lifestyle change without support and an expert to answer questions along the way. 🤷🏻 Will you let me support you?
As a dietitian and fitness pro (and a mom of 3), my goal is simple: to help people turn down the conflicting, bombarding nutrition noise, and turn up the healthy and happy tunes of true wellness.
I’ve dedicated my career to creating tools that strategically simplify the whole wellness thing so that it’s DO-ABLE and enjoyable in REAL-LIFE…not a dreaded jump from one impossible diet to the next. 😓

The painful struggle at the start of my dietetics journey was not wasted — it has helped me lead thousands of people to their best bodies: inside and out! I’m honored to be able to rescue others out of that miserable pit of misdirected, failed efforts.
So…here it is: THIS is ultimately why I became a dietitian:
1) to simplify nutrition and weight management, and
2) to support people with the tools and encouragement they need for life-long vitality and joy along the journey.
