Interesting trio, right?
What do these 3 have to do with one another, on Valentine’s Day especially?
Love is like a good run: I went for a run in our hilly neighborhood with my 9 year old this week (he was on his bike) and at about the 2 mile point, he’d had enough and asked me, “Mommy, aren’t your legs tired?” I answered, “Not yet, I’m not going my very fastest because I know I have a while to go still, buddy.” (Well, of course they were a little tired, but not tired enough to have to stop.)
I looped back by the house to drop him off and continued back on my route, as a had a couple miles still to go. As I jogged, I was thinking about Valentine’s Day coming up and thought, you know, love is like a good run:
-You better know what you are getting into before you get started, and be prepared or you won’t enjoy it as much.
-Both give you a healthy glow!
-Don’t quit just because you get tired of putting in the effort, or you’ll never get the most out of it.
-The more you love/run, the better you get at it!
-There will be uphills, level ground and downhills: you’ve gotta keep putting forth effort even while on the level parts, so you have what it takes to get up the tough hills.
-Always make up for lost “time” on the downhills.
-The rewards far outweigh the costs!
I hope you and yours have had a Happy Valentine’s Day! 🙂
Oh, and chocolate: where does chocolate fit in, you ask? Well, it’s Valentine’s Day, so many people have been trying to fit it in every hour today! I recommend strategically savoring every bite of whatever splurge you decide is worth indulging in. A favorite to consider is the chocolate Strong Snack Mug Cake (for two 🙂 from the Best Body Cookbook & Menu Plan (now on Amazon!). Thanks to all who tried it and posted a picture! They all looked delicious…the one pictured here was submitted by Jessica from Texas. Here’s the 3-minute recipe:
In a small bowl, mix 1 large ripe mashed banana, 1 tablespoon of any nut butter, 1 egg, 2 teaspoons chopped walnuts, 3 level tablespoons cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon honey. Pour into 2 small mugs. Microwave on high for 2 minutes (one mug at a time). Or, if you are sharing one large mug cake, microwave on high for 2 1⁄2 minutes. Serve with 8 ounces of milk.
