For National Small Business Week, I thought I’d share some of the faces of small-business life (as an owner who works from home and has a bustling family: hubby and 3 kids. :).
→ If you see me around Evans, GA where I live, maybe you think I “hang out in workout clothes and play on Facebook.” (That’s what my youngest kiddo says since I often am in leggings at the computer wrapping things up in my home-office, or teaching a group exercise class.)
→If you and I met across the country at one of the many conferences at which I’ve been a speaker, maybe you were the one in comfy clothes at a fitness event, while I was dressed up on a platform. Or maybe we “met” at a virtual event online when I was giving a workshop or webinar.
→Perhaps you know me from the world of adoption, and the annual Trot to Adopt 5K held each year for 11 years now to support the expenses of local adoptions. Maybe you thought adoption awareness and fundraising must be what I work on while my kids are at school.
→If you know me from the gyms where I have been teaching fitness classes, you might not realize I’m hours into my work day and we’re swapping energy for an early lunch-break, or close-of-business workout.
Well, yes to all of the above. I am a multi-tasking mom-prenuer for sure! Many of you can relate to that!
As the CEO of my business (Best Body Nutrition & Fitness) as well as the Co-CEO of the Digsby home, I lean into my value statement which is an anchor for both as I strive to live in balance to be all God has called me to be.
My anchoring value statement: Relationship is everything.
That’s why you’ll see on my “day in the life” below, most things begin with QT (quality time with…) or lovin’ on…
A day in the life:
- QT with JC (Quiet Time with Jesus Christ)
- My Best Body Breakfast about 360 days of the year (it’s on page 31 in my Cookbook…excerpt below), with a tall glass of plain soy milk
- Love on my RESOLVE community peeps (private Facebook group for year-round wellness and weight management support)
- Love on my nutrition clients
- Love on my gym peeps, or QT with my girlfriends, jogging or walking
- Write books and talks for speaking engagements, sharing #RealLifeWellness from the pages and platforms
- Love on my Best Body Team who helps me make all this happen: shipping orders, flights/hotels for events, monitoring Amazon stock, inventory, accounts, sales taxes, helping with my website and social media, launching programs… I’m truly grateful!
- QT with each of my Digsby faves (1-1 moments are a must, even if it means I take my lunch break with my high-school Senior because of his early release from school and evening work schedule)
Evenings and Weekends:
- Family dinner around the table as often as possible (many of our meals are out of my Cookbook & Menu Plan – once you get into a groove, it’s not consuming to prep/cook/incorporate leftovers)
- Love on my kiddos, my hubby, my dog, our cats, the grandparents, friends, my church family…
- Extracurriculars, errands, and chores
- Time at the lake, river, or pool whenever possible
- Wrap up the weekend with family night: Sushi and American Idol or games on Sunday nights at home…rinse and repeat starting Monday morning
Did I mention laundry? Phew!
